Are You Having Fun In Love?

Don’t forget to have fun!

When was the last time you had fun with your mate?  If you’re having to think more than a millisecond, it’s been too long!!!  And I mean that with the most kindness and love in my heart.

Because the truth is that love is work.  But it should also be fun.  Whether or not your relationship is in a place of pure bliss or spiraling disaster, it doesn’t mean you should stop seeking out ways to have fun together.

You see, I work with couples in therapy.  And I love working with couples.  But folks come to me in pretty intense times in their relationship.  As much as I wish couples called when things were just a slight bit off, that’s not how it usually happens.  It’s usually when they’re emotionally disconnected, sexually starved and communication leaves a lot to be desired.

And even the couples that I meet that are in a very crisis spot of their relationship, I even tell them to find ways to have fun together.  Because you see, if we aren’t finding the ways to connect, to be playful, to enjoy each other, we will forget what we’re fighting for.

If we’re only focused on the work, the negative, the overwhelm, than that is all that we will be able to see.  We won’t see the potential of what is in front of us.  We won’t be able to remember what drew us to our mate in the first place.  And we’ll lose sight of why we should be working on love in the first place.

So I hear by give you permission to have fun.  Be playful.  Be adventurous.  Seek out each other and do things together that bring you joy.

Even if your relationship seems a long way off from fun, I still encourage you look for the commonality between the two of you.  Because I can say with almost complete certainty, your mate is likely wondering whether or not you even want to play with them anymore.  All you have to do is dip your toe in the water first.  Trust me…your mate is likely to follow you in! (And yes, I realize I pretty much just described skinny dipping).

If this feels like a big reach for you in your relationship, than now is the exact time to reach out for some support.  That’s the reason I’m here and the reason you’re reading this right now.

I can’t wait to connect and help you rediscover the importance of fun and play in your relationship
